Forlink Acquires 30 Percent Interest of Gmgame
Tuesday September 28, 1:00 am ET


BEIJING--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 28, 2004--Forlink Software Corp. Inc. (OTCBB:FRLK - News) today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire 30 percent interest from Gmgame (http://www.gmgame.com), a privately held online game portal in China.
Under the terms of the agreement, Forlink will provide Gmgame with long-term IT services and approximately US$36,000 for the shares acquired. Gmgame is a fast-growing online game portal committed to providing Chinese players with the widest variety of online games available. It is also a popular online shopping center for game- related products. It has been a customer of Forlink's ASP (Application Service Provider) service since June. Gmgame's Web site, e-mail system, and online shopping system are hosted and managed on For-online.

According to IDC (International Data Corp.), China's online gaming market totaled US$159.7 million in 2003 in online gaming subscription revenue. Online gaming subscriptions will grow from US$159.7 million in 2003 to US$822.9 million in 2008. The market will increase at a 2003-2008 CAGR of 39 percent. China is expected to become the largest online gaming market in the Asia-Pacific by 2007.

Südostasien ist eine der dynamischsten Märkte für Mobile Gaming in den kommenden vier Jahren. Die Umsätze mit Mobile Gaming sollen laut einer Marktanalyse von IDC in der Region Asien-Pazifik (ohne Japan) von 237,4 Mio. Dollar im Jahr 2003 auf 1,3 Mrd. Dollar im Jahr 2008 wachsen. Der aufstrebende Markt ist auch in Sachen Mobile Gaming einmal mehr China, das bis 2008 fast zum Gaming-Giganten Südkorea aufschließen kann.


Geschwindigkeitssteigerungen machen es möglich
Das rasante Wachstum in der Region werde von der steigenden Geschwindigkeit der Datenübertragung beim Mobilfunk, der zunehmenden Verbreitung von Handys mit Farbdisplay sowie durch Marketingoffensiven der Mobilfunkbetreiber getragen. Südkorea, der eindeutig größte Markt der Region, hatte 2003 einen Marktanteil an den Umsätzen der gesamten Region von 72,5 Prozent.

Südkorea im Kommen
Bis 2008 soll dieser Anteil auf 41,7 Prozent sinken und China rückt Südkorea mit einem Anteil von 40,3 Prozent dicht auf die Fersen. Das bedeutet eine Verdoppelung des Marktanteils von 20,1 Prozent im Vorjahr. In Zahlen werden die Umsätze mit Mobile Gaming in Südkorea 2008 540,5 Mio. Dollar und in China 522,2 Mio. Dollar betragen, so die IDC-Prognose. Vor allem für Südkorea mit seiner ausgefeilteren Mobilfunktechnologie biete der chinesische Markt ein wichtiges Wachstumspotenzial.
