Commerx and Commerce One Align to Bring Robust eProcurement Solutions to Commerx Customers CHICAGO and WALNUT CREEK, Calif., March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Commerx(TM), Inc., a leading Internet marketplace developer and provider of eCommerce solutions for industrial processing markets, and Commerce One, Inc. (Nasdaq: CMRC - news), a leader in global eCommerce solutions for business, today announced an agreement to offer and enhance robust eProcurement solutions for PlasticsNet.Com(TM), the first in Commerx's family of industrial marketplaces.
The relationship further reinforces Commerx's overall strategy to provide a full portfolio of Web-hosted applications and services for its customers in the $400 billion domestic plastics industry and later into future industrial processing markets. Commerx's ``e-volved'' marketplace strategy extends the traditional buy/sell focused marketplace model to incorporate a comprehensive integrated application and customized services solution.
``Our relationship with Commerce One allows us to offer plastics processors who participate in our marketplace and participants in future industrial markets a robust eCommerce application that will integrate the entire procurement process and provide workplace and cost efficiencies throughout their operations,'' said Tim Stojka, chairman and CEO of Commerx. ``This solution, paired with others in the Commerx suite, helps us build out our true end-to-end, 'e-volved' marketplace solutions.''
Commerx is strategically aligned with Schneider Logistics to provide online freight quotes and tendering; and has relationships with eCredit to eventually provide online financing and Syntra to ultimately provide landed cost and export compliance services key for international expansion. Commerx also brings together services ranging from robust auction and exchange functionality to messaging and translation.
Initially, Commerx plans to embed the Commerce One BuySite(TM) Portal Edition eProcurement application within its industrial marketplace solutions offering. Coupled with other proprietary and third party software applications, this application will further enhance customers' ability to easily identify, locate and purchase product. Commerx and Commerce One have also agreed to work together to expand the total offering and continue to develop tools that meet users' industry-specific needs.
``The Commerx and Commerce One alliance will better serve customers in the plastics and other industries with the most comprehensive eCommerce solution available,'' said Mark Hoffman, president and CEO of Commerce One. ``We are pleased to have formed this relationship with an established Internet market maker in this industry.
