Tuesday, June 8, 2004 Intermedia Seeks Shelter Company picks up option on script from Identity scribe Michael Cooney. By Lisa Johnson Michael Cooney (Identity) has sold the option to the rights to his psychological thriller Shelter to Intermedia, which has already brought Neal Edelstein and Mike Macari of Macari/Edelstein Films (The Ring) on board to produce.
Shelter is about a female forensic psychiatrist who specializes in debunking multiple personality disorder. When she discovers that her latest patient's various personalities are all murder victims, she struggles to find a logical explanation for the man's delusion. Writer Cooney is represented by UTA.
Macari and Edelstein are also working on The Ring 2 and The Invisible, a remake of the Swedish hit, for Spyglass Entertainment. They have also set up the Gideon, written by Andrew Klavan, at Fox and another untitled Klavan script at Gold Circle Films. Currently they're producing No Place Like Home for New Line, with Amy Heckerling directing and starring Vince Vaughn.
