CyberKey Announces Intentions to Develop a Web Portal Digital Rights Management Platform for On-Demand Digital Content Via the Internet WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 08, 2003 6:45 PM - PR Newswire
ST. GEORGE, Utah, Oct 8, 2003 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- CyberKey Corporation, Inc. (Pink Sheets: CYKY) today announced that it is in development of a web portal application of its CYBERKEY technology.
CyberKey's web portal will provide a secure on-demand digital content download platform. The new web portal will initially provide digital music files. CyberKey will add additional content such as movies, software applications, edutainment, and other digital content.
The new CyberKey web portal will focus on content that can take advantage of the strengths of the CYBERKEY embedded DRM. The owners of content will be able to more adequately enforce DRM, while users will find CyberKey's DRM very non-intrusive and transparent
Several large content owners, Internet service providers, and system OEMs have shown an intense interest in CyberKey's DRM implementation. "With all of the attention to DRM that the music industry has brought to light in recent days it has been no surprise that we are seeing so much interest in CyberKey from the music and entertainment industry," said Jim Plant, CyberKey Chairman and CEO.
The CyberKey portal will support multiple content types, such as music, video, graphics, text, and applications. Additionally the CyberKey web portal will be an international destination for Internet users world-wide and will offer local language and currency support as well as local content.
CyberKey will have the option of providing content under its own CyberKey branding, and acting as a content aggregator for Internet service providers wishing to add digital on-demand download services for content secured by a CYBERKEY under their own branding.
With a CYBERKEY, users can easily transport large amounts of music, data, files and software applications from one USB enabled device to another. USB is a standard communication interface on most personal computers, and a growing list of consumer devices such as MP3 players. CYBERKEYs are "plug and play" devices capable of running on most popular operating systems without device drivers. A device roughly the size of an adult's small finger, CYBERKEYs can today securely store up to one Gigabyte (1GB) of electronic content each, including copyrighted material such as music, video, books, eMail, and other sensitive business files and applications, which can now be protected using CyberKey's patent pending DRM technology. CyberKey will deliver larger CYBERKEYs in the future to accommodate larger files and file libraries for content such as movies, music, three dimensional graphics, and large data bases applications.
