Scala Releases Unique Off-the-Shelf Pharmaceutical Business Solution
Vertical business application for the pharmaceutical industry
Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 24 February 2000 - Scala Business Solutions NV, a leading provider of e-business management (eBMS) solutions, today announced the release of Scala Pharma, a vertical business application based on meeting specific needs in the pharmaceutical industries.
"We have more than 150 Scala installations in the pharmaceutical industry, and our clients told us that they needed a standard off-the-shelf solution for their particular business," said Sergey Shvedov, Scala's Senior Vice President of Research and Development. "We worked together with our existing pharmaceutical users during their Pharma User Group meetings to develop a vertical solution and ensure that the products are continually enhanced in line with their requirements."
Critical pharmaceutical industry issues are supported with Scala Pharma, complementing the already powerful features of Scala Global Series. Examples of the improvements include; · Batch traceability, enabling our clients to fully trace a product to an end customer or from the originating supplier · Quality control during the sales, purchasing and manufacturing processes · First Expiry date First Out (FEFO) · Multiple bin location · Extensive traceability reporting Batch Ids, stock status, quality control, supplier priorities, re-order levels, safety stock and deficiency reports
Chris Houle, CEO, Scala Business Solutions, said, "Scala is already in a position to take the lead in helping pharmaceutical companies expand their business globally without those companies investing extensively in a very complex and expensive product."
Houle continued, "Scala have been supplying the pharmaceutical industry with a standard business management system for some time - including processes for financials, purchase and sales as well as stock control and manufacturing - and we are now able to offer a customised solution for their critical business issues. We have also noticed an increasing demand for an e-business enabling application for pharmaceutical business-to-business trade that is fully integrated with the backoffice system."
Another important aspect of the pharmaceutical trade is the 'First Expiry date First Out' (FEFO) functionality that will ensure that products are shipped according to expiry dates rather than delivery date. Scala Pharma will give the users instant access to information about Expiry and Best Before dates so that no mistakes can be made when shipping or ordering products.
Some current Scala users within the pharmaceutical and chemical industries are Alcon, Astra, Boehringer-Ingelheim, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Kemira, Laboratories Fournier, Merck, Novartis, Organon, Pierre Fabre, Sanofi, Schering, Servier, and Zeneca.
