Axia Building Technologies, Ltd. Celebrates 'Hand Over' Ceremonies for New Homes in Sri Lanka
SAN DIEGO, April 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- S.O.S. Children's
Villages of Sri Lanka hosted a "Handing Over Ceremony" on April 25, 2006 of
new homes built by Axia Building Technologies, Ltd., a wholly owned
subsidiary of Axia Group, Inc, (OTC: AXGJ), for families affected by the
tsunami in Kyankeri, Sri Lanka. S.O.S. Children's Villages Association of
Sri Lanka is a part of S.O.S. Kinderdorf International, an international
child welfare organization. The Ceremony also honored the 20th anniversary
since the death of Dr. Hermann Gmeriner, Founder of S.O.S. Kinderdorf
International.
Stated Raj Janan, President of Axia Building Technologies, Inc., "The
celebration was a very moving event for all of us. We have worked hard and
persevered through very difficult conditions to build these homes. The
gratification to finally give these homes to the families who lost
everything nearly two years ago is tremendous."
Axia is building 250 homes through a contract with S.O.S. Kinderdorf
and recently signed a new contract with another group to build as many as
1,000 homes in areas hardest hit by the tsunami in 2004. The government of
Sri Lanka still estimates that more than 100,000 homes need to be built to
replace those destroyed by the storm.
Added Mr. Janan, "We also want to thank S.O.S. Children's Villages for
their support and commitment to helping us complete this project. The homes
that they designed for the people of Sri Lanka are beautiful and will bring
pride to the people of Sri Lanka for a long time."
