THE FANTASTIC CORPORATION APPOINT A NEW VP OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
The Fantastic Corporation appoint a new VP of business development
Dennis Smith takes up a new challenge as Fantastic moves forward with global partnerships. The Fantastic Corporation and its customers are working together to address the challenge of Broadband Multimedia distribution on a world-wide basis.
Zug (Switzerland), 7 July 2000 - With immediate effect, Mr. Dennis Smith will take over the role of Vice President Business Development, based at the headquarters in Zug, Switzerland. His role will be to initiate, represent and maintain relationships with specific major partners and customers at a corporate level and in particular Fantastic's relationships with US-based Lucent and Loral. Mr. Smith will directly report to the CEO, Reto Braun.
Dennis Smith joined Fantastic in 1997 and has an extensive background in international I.T consulting, encompassing the public, Big Six and private sectors. He holds a BA from York University, Canada and a postgraduate diploma in computer programming.
On joining Fantastic, Mr. Smith was Program Manager for Fantastic's first release in 1998 of its flagship "end-to end" I.P Multicast software products. Fantastic's Broadband platforms include the Channel Management Center (CMC) aimed at Network Operators; Channel Editorial Center (CEC) enabling Content Providers to easily access, for the first time, Broadband IP based distribution platforms, and the MediaSurfer client plug-in to enable IP based clients to receive rich Broadband Multimedia. Mr. Smith then established and managed the Solutions Group, as Vice President - Solutions, providing a comprehensive range of specialized services to customers to complement and extend their use of Fantastic's products as part of a full solution.. It is a natural progression in light of the success of this group, for him to take on the wider role of Business Development. He will be working globally with our major partners and customers to realize the many benefits that can be obtained from broadband multi-media distribution solutions using the Fantastic software platform.
Reto Braun, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Fantastic Corporation said: " Dennis has made a significant contribution during his time at Fantastic and was the obvious choice to succeed Mike Leonard, who is returning to the US, as Vice President of Business Development. We recognise the importance of this role in the company and it is a mark of how much the company is growing that we were able to find the suitable candidate internally."

ITVWORLD and eMAX now able to broadcast news and games
Sydney, 7 July 2000 - The Fantastic Corporation has formed alliances with ITVWORLD and eMAX to enable the development and broadcasting of interactive, rich multimedia broadband content.
Utilising Fantastic's content aggregation and distribution technology known as the Channel Editorial Centreä (CEC), ITVWORLD and eMAX will now be able to compile and prepare content to distribute over broadband networks, including next generation broadcast "channels", reserving broadcast times, booking required bandwidth, and preparing a broadcast guide.
ITVWORLD is one of Australia's leading broadband and digital TV content creators. ITVWORLD will develop new, innovative content of its own and aggregate content from other content producers and providers using Fantastic's CEC content management and distribution system.
With this technology, these companies will be able to create a new range of user experiences with content delivered to IP-enabled receiver devices such as PC's and other next generation set top boxes and portable devices.
ITVWORLD Chief Executive Officer, Jason Romney, said "The ITVWORLD alliance with Fantastic will quicken the arrival of a new phase in Australia's broadband infrastructure: easy-to-use, TV-style entertainment combined with rich interactivity.
"Like all broadband content providers in the world today, ITVWORLD has been hindered by the cost and limited number of simultaneous users that can receive streaming media served by conventional means," Romney said. "With dramatically increased bandwidth on the horizon, this alliance lets ITVWORLD smash those barriers and deliver what individuals, corporates, the Government and educational institutions have been waiting for."
eMAX produces and manages one of Australia's largest games portals, known as PlayNOW! This service provides expertise, design, full promotional graphics, videos of the games in action, high quality sound, as well as text and graphically-rich interfaces for some of the industry's leading games. With Fantastic's broadband content aggregation and distribution system, PlayNOW!'s content can be distributed to subscribers without the concerns of picture weight, file sizes, or loading times.
Neil Wiles, Executive Chairman, eMAX Digital Entertainment, said "Entertainment is all about relevance to the delivery platform and delivering the greatest experience possible to the target market on whatever system they choose to use - satisfying wants and needs, not just coming up with the good ideas.
"Fantastic has enabled us to actually develop content to maximise the broadband user experience by being able to generate our own, tailored content for this next generation delivery platform."
Laurence Cole, Country Manager, Australia/New Zealand, The Fantastic Corporation, said "These new Fantastic partners will be able to provide the user a whole new multimedia experience without the waiting times faced by current delivery systems, due to bandwidth restrictions (such as narrow-band internet) and one of interactivity within a multimedia rich environment as yet unknown by most.
"The sophistication and quality of ITVWORLD's and eMAX's interactive, rich multimedia broadband content will help to widen the appeal and understanding of the immediate advantages that this new generation of communication tools will deliver."

314 Postings, 9052 Tage FipsiHi Helli
