- SMART Expects More than One Million Cards Deployed over Next 24 Months

FORT LEE, N.J., Oct. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- On Track Innovations Ltd., (OTI) (Nasdaq: OTIV - News), a global leader in contactless microprocessor-based smart card solutions for homeland security, payments, petroleum payments and other applications, today announced that Smart Applications International Ltd. (SMART), a Kenyan company committed to delivering technology driven secure healthcare solutions, has placed an order for an additional 100,000 MediSmart cards which are to be issued by multiple medical scheme managers. This expansion comes after SMART has already issued approximately 100,000 cards and deployed 340 contactless smart card readers & other device points of service at hospitals, pharmacies and general practitioner sites across Kenya, enabling patient authentication, verification of benefits and claims processing in a seamless electronic process. MediSmart, developed by a team of healthcare industry experts at OTI with system process design support by SMART, provides complete medical history, biometric identification and co-payment options. In initial trials, MediSmart reduced client medical expenses by up to 25% to 40%. Moreover, MediSmart enables the introduction and effective management of joint state and private sector funding and service delivery models.

With OTI's MediSmart, SMART is able to provide a complete healthcare solution including cards, readers and related software that are seamlessly integrated with hospital management systems; up to 75% of patients in Kenya receive their primary healthcare services at public hospitals. The OTI MediSmart solution offers secure and fast front-end patient authentication and benefit verification at the service provider level. It allows for electronic clinical data capture and electronic claim and/or report generation, taking into consideration benefit rules in respect to services provided and benefit utilization. At the same time the information is recorded on each patient's personal MediSmart card (or mobile data repository), relevant data is transferred to the corporate and insurer levels. With MediSmart, statements and invoices are generated faster, administration time and cost are reduced and, since claims are authenticated electronically, it further guarantees payment and reduces payment cycles at the provider levels.

The OTI MediSmart solution offers the following benefits:

   * Biometrically authenticated member identification
   * No Over expenditure - members use only the benefit balance on their cards
   * Faster member scheme rules verification
   * Remote communication with card for benefits renewal or update
   * Remote member cancellation
   * An improvement in clinical decision making by facilitating the communication of client-option/plan specific guidelines, protocols, rules and warnings amongst all role players in the health care sector
   * Reduction of human error, medical risk, service errors or Rx
   * Easy and rapid access to essential patient medical information in case of emergencies

In addition, the solution helps eliminate:

   * Payments for fraudulent services not rendered
   * Over expenditure in line with benefit balances

Oded Bashan, Chairman and CEO of OTI said, "The expansion of the MediSmart solution provides solid proof to the success of the MediSmart product. This is yet another example where OTI is focusing on high margin projects with recurring revenues. These projects have a longer initiation process but provide solid long term revenues for OTI."

"The expansion of the MediSmart program in Kenya is very exciting as it facilitates an easier and more reliable experience to our members", says Mrs. Pauline Muriuki, CEO of SMART.

Mr. Chris Kirubi, Chairman SMART, continues: "This solution enables the Kenyan Government to realize their ambition of providing medical services to every Kenyan. In our view over the next 12 months we will have more than one million cards in Kenya."

548 Postings, 7655 Tage edugatHallo Ihr beiden

Danke also für deinen Tip.

Hallo zusammen,

Renesas Technology and On Track Innovations (OTI) to Introduce a New Microcontroller-Based Contactless Payment Solution for Banks

-- Product Designed to Help Credit Card Manufacturers Provide a Cost-Effective, High-Quality System for American Banks
-- Solution Approved/Certified by MasterCard PayPass and Visa

TOKYO & FORT LEE, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Renesas Technology Corp., a leading semiconductor system solutions provider for mobile, automotive and PC/AV (audio visual) markets, and On Track Innovations Ltd (OTI) (NASDAQ:OTIV), a global leader in contactless microprocessor-based smart card solutions for homeland security, payments, petroleum payments and other applications, today announced that they have developed a secure contactless microcontroller solution geared toward the US contactless payments market. The new secure payment solution has been certified by MasterCard PayPass for their 3.3 specifications and Visa 2.0.2 A&C V3.0 specifications to comply with contactless card standards. The solution is available to US banks and banks around the world who issue industry standard contactless cards.

The solution was developed to support the large volume orders expected for the US contactless payments market: Renesas is one of the largest contactless chip providers in the world and it is widely recognized by card manufacturers for superior quality, yield, time-to-market and packaging. OTI has almost two decades of experience providing secure contactless solutions for multiple markets, and is providing solutions to support contactless cards, key fobs, smart stickers and more unique contactless products.

"By combining our chip technology and OTI's operating system and an antenna module, we can simplify the design process for card manufacturers and help accelerate the adoption of more secure contactless payment methods among many banks around the world."

"Our contactless solution provides issuers and card manufacturers with a cost-effective, reliable and secure way to implement contactless cards. We are geared up to support contactless payment programs with our proven solution of both cards and readers," said Oded Bashan, Chairman and CEO of OTI.

1062 Postings, 6560 Tage MärzSituation bei Amex, Visa und MasterCard

Hallo zusammen,

hier eine aktuelle Nachricht:

US-Kreditkartenkonzern American Express mit erneutem Gewinneinbruch
08:00 21.10.08
