Huaneng Group, the parent of Huaneng Power International, said its revenue last year was 151.3 bln yuan, a rise of 30.9 pct from 2007. The company, China's top power producer, said it generated 364.5 bln kWh of electricity in 2008, up 11.5 pct year-on-year. Coal output grew 28.6 pct to 21.88 mln tons in 2008, it said. The company posted a loss in 2008, its first, due to rising coal prices and the state cap on electricity prices, said Cao Peixi, Huaneng's general manager. By the end of 2008, the company's installed power capacity stood at 85.86 mln kilowatts, up 19.9 pct year-on-year, while annual coal capacity reached 27.24 mln tons.
