PITTSBURGH, March 15 (Reuters) - China, currently the world's dominant producer of rare earths, could become a net importer of the materials at some point beyond the year 2015, the chairman of Great Western Minerals Group Ltd (GWG.V: Quote) said.
Asked at a conference when that shift might happen, Gary Billingsley, executive chairman of the Canadian developer of rare earth mines, replied: "Perhaps beyond 2015."

Prices of rare earths, used in products ranging from handheld electronic devices to wind turbines, have soared over the past year since China sharply cut its export quotas on them, leaving Western companies scrambling to redevelop mines idled decades ago.

Reuters reported that Great Western Minerals Group Limited is in talks with several potential customers over long term contracts to sell rare earths produced by the South African mine it is developing.

Mr Gary Billingsley executive chairman of Great Western Minerals said that "We're actually in advanced discussions with several groups right now. Certainly in the H1 of this year we should be announcing some of those arrangements."

auf vielen Seiten als Topwert eingestuft. Seltene Erden gehören zu den Werten au die man ein Auge haben sollte.  

Great Western Higher, Has Been On The Up Since March 17 Report

Great Western Minerals Group Ltd (GWG.V) is up 3 cents or 4% at 80 cents, and has touched a day high 82 cents, with more than 4.5 million shares traded.

The stock was trading in the 70-73 cents ranage on March 17 when Reuters reported that Great Western is in talks with several potential customers over long term contracts to sell rare earths produced by the South African mine it is developing.

Mr Gary Billingsley, executive chairman of Great Western, reportedly said that: "We're actually in advanced discussions with several groups right now. Certainly in the H1 of this year we should be announcing some of those arrangements."

Great Western Minerals reports loss

Properties writedown contributes to $16.3M loss; processing earnings strong
By Cassandra Kyle, The StarPhoenix April 4, 2011   Great Western Minerals Group Ltd. (GWMG) earned more in 2010 from processing rare earth materials than it did in 2009, but ended the fiscal year with a net loss.

The Saskatoon-based company, which is working to develop several rare earths properties in addition to processing the elements, reported a net consolidated loss of $16.3 million, or 6.2 cents per share, for the 2010 year. In 2009, GWMG noted a consolidated net loss of $7 million, or 4.2 cents per share.

An $8.1 million writedown of mineral properties contributed to the 2010 loss, the company said.

GWMG also reported a $5.1 million, or two cent per share, cash loss for 2010 -a slight improvement over its 2009 cash loss of $5.3 million, or three cents per share.

However, its revenue from manufacturing and processing work through wholly owned subsidiaries Less Common Metals and Great Western Technologies Inc. significantly improved in 2010. GWMG saw a 26 per cent increase in such revenue last year, rising to $15.1 million from nearly $12 million in 2009.

The company also recorded a 48 per cent increase in gross margins from its manufacturing and processing sector, reaching $4.5 million in 2010 compared to $3 million in the year prior.

"Great Western Minerals Group had a very strong financial and operating year in 2010. Our company was able to increase revenues by 26 per cent and margins by 48 per cent for the year from our rare earths processing operations. This is of significance given our plans to be a fully integrated producer," said Jim Engdahl, the company's president and CEO.

"GWMG also saw a significant improvement in the company's cash position with $9.2 million as at Dec. 31, 2010, compared to $1.2 million as at Dec. 31, 2009.

"In addition, subsequent to year end, the company has received and executed 17,492,828 warrants for common shares of the company. This contribution of $8,215,781 to the cash position of GWMG is highly relevant to our ability to bring the Steenkampskraal property into mining production."

The Steenkampskraal rare earth property, located in South Africa, is the focus of much of GWMG's current attention. The local company hopes to bring the site into production in 2013, making it the first rare earths producer outside of China.

China produces the majority of the world's rare earths -in the neighbourhood of 97 per cent -but will soon use as much as it mines, leaving none left for export.

Rare earths are found in everything from day-today items such as televisions and cameras to hightech military applications and medical lasers.

Was mein ihr. china rare muss zu niedrigeren preisen alles in china verscherbeln, die anderen zwei brauchen soweit ich weiss etwas länger bis zum produktionsstart. Bin vor kurzem zu 0,61 cent rein. Produktionsstart 2013 in Südafrkia möglich? habe erst auf der invest 2011 in stuttg. von einem börsenexp. davon erfahren

Kann mir bitte mal jemand erklären weshalb gwm heute schon wieder 14% gefallen ist?  

Irgendwie erklärt sich der Verlust der letzten Tage überhaupt nicht. Die vorgelegten Zahlen hätte eigentlich andere Reaktionen hervorrufen müssen. Derzeit erschließt sich dem interessierten Anleger nicht, wieso der Markt auf positive Nachrichten so dermaßen zurückhaltend reagiert.  

ich würde mal sagen das sind doch mal wieder kurse zum nach kaufen mir war das in den letzten wochen zu teuer werde mir morgen wieder was dazu kaufen denke so günstig wird man nicht so schnell wieder an die papiere dran kommen.. den SE bleib ja gefragt ..mfg

Mit der Erteilung der neuen Abbaurechtsverordnung rücken GWMG und Rareco dem Abschluss des Liefervertrages gemäß der im Dezember 2008 unterzeichneten Optionsvereinbarung einen Schritt näher. Der Entwurf des Liefervertrages ist in vollem Gange und gibt GWMG nach Abschluss das Recht, 100 % der aus der Bergwerkstätigkeit und -verarbeitung der Steenkampskraal-Erze gewonnenen Produkte der Seltenen Erden zu erwerben.

SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN -- (Marketwire) -- 04/27/11 -- Great Western Minerals Group Ltd. ("GWMG" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:GWG)(OTCQX:GWMGF) announces that it has, through its wholly owned subsidiary Less Common Metals Limited ("LCM"), signed a long term Co-operation Agreement with Aichi Steel Corporation ("ASC") of Japan. ASC is a part of the Toyota Group of Companies.

LCM is a producer of Rare Earth metals and alloys to the worldwide magnet industry. It has been supplying ASC with neodymium iron boron ("NdFeB") alloys for more than 10 years. The alloys supplied have been consumed in the "MagFine" (TM) facility of ASC where they have been used to manufacture an anisotropic magnet powder capable of producing the world's most powerful bonded magnets. To date more than 20 million magnets have been produced and successfully applied in components that combine drastic reductions in weight with high power efficiency for automotive and other applications.

ASC is a speciality steel producer with an electromagnetic division aimed at the development of new and proprietary magnetic materials. Within this division is the "MagFine" business which is undergoing a rapid expansion program, causing a doubling of the size of its current production facility in Seki, Japan. The Seki plant provides all the powder to the "MagFine" manufacturing sites which are located in Japan, Czech Republic, Korea and China. With further expansion planned throughout the world ASC expects volumes to grow significantly over the coming years.

The Co-operation Agreement allows for the long term supply of NdFeB alloys produced by LCM using Rare Earth oxides to be produced at the Steenkampskraal mine in South Africa. A doubling of the planned capacity at LCM is currently underway as the first phase of expansion to facilitate near term demand from ASC. A further phased expansion program has already been designed to accommodate the projected expansion of ASC alloy demand in future.

Machen wir eine Metallwoche, oder nicht? Das war heute Abend die Frage. Eigentlich hat Silber noch nicht wie im letzten Beitrag vermutet, die 50er-Tagelinie nach unten verlassen. Aber was im außerbörslichen Handel nachts und außerhalb der Comex abläuft, ist alles andere als ein geregelter Handel ? eine Situation zwischen Angst, Not, Gier und Elend. Hier unser Podcast?

jetzt bin ich beruhigt. Hatte ehrlich gesagt ziemlich bauchweh, denn wie man bei lynas sieht in malaysia, ist das spiel erst zuende wenn die allerletzte genehmigung da ist. und diese nukleargeschichten sind eben problematisch. ich finde, das ist die beste news der letzten monate.

also das sieht echt gut aus, die genehmigung ist schon wichtig, es läuft hier alles nach plan

weis jemand wann die hauptversammlung ist und ob dividende gezahlt wird.
