Company Description
IVI Communications, Inc. (IVCM), fully reporting and trading , is an ISP Management Company ready to roll up local ISPs in Tier III markets, and launch a nationally branded fixed wireless service. The management of IVCM has years of experience in ISP rollups and broadband services as part of Internet Ventures, Inc. who rolled up 13 ISPs in four western states.
Mission
IVCM intends to acquire, consolidate and profitably operate locally branded ISPs offering state of the art dialup and nationally branded wireless Internet access to residential and business customers.
The Industry
Dialup Internet Market
From its birth, the growth of the Internet has never faltered. Residential and business demand for Internet access just keeps on growing, and changing. Dialup just keeps getting better and, on average, cheaper. While broadband nibbles away at the top, new dialup customers enter at the bottom. THE CASH FLOW GENERATED BY THESE CUSTOMERS IS SIGNIFICANT.
At the close of the second quarter of 2003 there were 56 million dialup subscribers in the U.S. Over 12 million of these subscribers are served by 3,000 locally branded ISPs. The majority of these ISPs serve less than 5,000 subscribers. They enjoy a unique benefit, i.e., the fierce brand loyalty of their local constituency. But, they are hampered in their ability to provide top of the line services and achieve profitability because they lack buying power. Through consolidation, economy of scale is achieved and profit is maximized. The customer benefits, as well, with state of the art internet access services and 24/7 technical support.
Broadband Market
Many consumers in areas that mainstream technology hasn't reached have been left waiting in vain for the next advance. We will deploy, market, and maintain a nationally branded fixed wireless broadband solution with newly acquired ISPs in tier 3 markets. We have significant wireless experience dating back to1996 in both the 900 MHz and 2.4 and 5.6 GHz spread spectrum technology. As more compelling content becomes available, the demand for and profitability of broadband services will increase dramatically. ISPs having a track record of success in broadband will not only retain customers by converting dialup to broadband but will gain new customers migrating from other dialup providers.
Summary
It is impossible to accurately predict when there will be a mass exodus from dialup to broadband. Some say dialup is already dead. Not really, we say. It is still the dominant choice and growing, even while the percent of broadband Internet households grows. The market is quite obviously driven by a price/value relationship that, as of yet, does not drive the average residential customer to broadband.
Our long-term strategy is to become a media company operating its own internet based distribution network. The aggregation of compelling content will drive our dialup customers to our broadband products. Consumer interest in content is an established fact. And, it’s relatively easy to see that Entertainment on Demand (EOD) via the Internet is inevitable. We are positioned to facilitate this phenomenon
Strategic Alliances
We have entered discussions to negotiate master contracts with aggregators to provide network and technical functions.
Other discussions with technical support outsourcers are also under way.
We are also in negotiations with a growing company to provide wireless training, equipment financing, and subcontracting of fieldwork such as site surveys and tower installations; and we have entered initial discussions with Motorola (Canopy) and Alvarion (formerly BreezeCom) for the supply of fixed wireless equipment.
