3800>, a foreign-owned independent cogeneration plant operator in China, recently started construction of an LED production plant in
Jiangsu Province with an initial investment of US$500 million, sources reported.
The construction of the plant is scheduled to be completed at the end of this year.
The upstream solar material supplier plans to install 100 MOCVD sets by the end of 2011, and parent company GCL Power plans to purchase a total of 400-500 MOCVD sets.
GCL-Poly on Feb. 18 said that it has received approval from its board of directors to invest a total of HK$17.7 billion to increase its output expansion within two years.
The company will increase its annual output capacity of polycrystalline silicon from current 21,000 metric tons to 65,000 metric tons at the middle of 2012, according to a statement filed with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
