"In addition, the first ground program in Ontario has commenced. The program will begin on Little-Bryan to follow up on the several kilometres of potential graphite mineralization from known graphitic trenches, and a second near-surface conductive trend lying approximately one kilometre to the north (see news release of February 21, 2012). The initial program will consist of prospecting, geological mapping, and sampling along the conductors to prioritize the optimum areas for trenching and a follow up Phase 1 drill program."

"TCMR: What are some characteristics of an economic graphite deposit?

SM: The carbon content throughout the deposit is very important. A lot of companies are reporting the top range of carbon content, but because mining needs to stretch over many years, carbon content needs to be consistent throughout and not just good for three months.

The type of graphite is criticalflake and vein graphite are the best. Flake is the good stuff. Vein graphite is even betterit is found in lumps in the ground and is "cooked" by long geological processes. It is the form closest to diamond mineralization, and for this reason is much rarer, only found in Sri Lanka today.

A third key factor is infrastructure. Transportation makes up a large portion of the costs of large-scale graphite production. Currently, graphite is going through a high price peak, so existing producers are enjoying themselves. Producers have to prepare for the worst: If the price comes back down to perhaps half of its current market value, a producer's logistics are critical because that's where it either spends a lot of money or saves a lot of money

4186 Postings, 4645 Tage carpe_diem# Graphit-Vergleich mit REE, Vanadium etc.

"The Critical Metals Report: You once called graphite the perfect mineral. Why?

Simon Moores: It's conductive; it's a lubricant; it's resistant to high temperatures and it's a strong mineral. This means it doesn't have just one major market; it has an abundance of markets and uses. It's key to existing technologies that have been around for 100 years as well as new technologies, like lithium-ion batteries.

But despite what many think, it's not a niche industry. Rare earths and lithium are niche industries. Each year, 1.1 million tons (Mt) of graphite is produced. It's bigger by volume than molybdenum, vanadium, cobalt, tungsten, rare earths and lithium combined.

Graphite miners operate all around the world in Canada, Brazil, Europe, India and, of course, China, which accounts for 80% of production. That's a new figure that our research at Industrial Minerals has just uncovered for the new Natural Graphite Report 2012. China's grip on graphite production is greater than people thought previously."

Statement des CEOs: "Our objective in 2012 is to narrow the 12 properties down to one Flagship property,” says Bogart, “If we were looking for gold we’d need significant amounts of capital, but graphite is comparatively inexpensive to explore. There are two reasons for this. One, graphite is extremely conductive and therefore responsive to EM surveys. Two, the deposits we are targeting are close to surface. Less than 100 meters. So we don’t have to drill excessively deep.

4186 Postings, 4645 Tage carpe_diem# Graphene im aktuellen CMR-Interview

SM: "The industry is some way off. A Google search will throw up many companies claiming they can produce graphene. But I wouldn't call it graphene—I'd call it nano-graphite. There may be three, four, five layers of graphene in their products.

Graphene is used in intelligent inks, for example, which are used for security systems on bank cards. That's its first market, and others may emerge in the next few years. But I believe the production of true graphene is many years away—commercially producing true graphene one-molecule thick—is extremely challenging, one of the biggest materials scientists will face. But if they crack it, the possibilities for its use are almost endless and it would revolutionize they way we live our lives. But to get graphene's super properties we all read about, you need to peel away and isolate a one-molecule layer. It's almost impossible to do that on a commercial scale. In terms of serious large-scale commercial use, it's at least 15 years away, and predicting 15 years into the future is like trying to predict 1,500 years into the future.

Graphite Report: April 2012

The first quarter of the graphite boom in 2012 has been one of the best quarters for a group of stocks since uranium started to take off in 2004. It has been nothing short of extraordinary considering all other materials stocks continue to struggle to attract investment in 2012. It shows how strong this emerging investment story is. The graphite theme has all the elements of the perfect storm. It has strong industrial growth with a large market and it has strong incremental demand coming from multiple fronts. Li-Ion batteries, nuclear pebble bed reactors and eventually fuel cells will all add to the demand curve for graphite over the next decade and beyond.

Graphite is also at the center of a 21st century revolution in technology with graphene, the 2 dimensional wonder material that will change how we view physics.

Graphene is a discovery so revolutionary that is already being used in hundreds of new technological applications on an R and D level with hundreds of new patents already filed involving graphene. Bendable phones, graphene computer chips, coatings for re-inforcement and strength, coatings for efficiencies, space elevators and so much more. This is just the beginning of discovery when it comes to graphene. The uses we find for graphene years from now I am sure will be mind blowing to any of us or what is being conceived and thought of today. The first mass produced products with graphene are at least 5 - 8 years away while scientists are still trying to figure out how to produce large quantities of the material and most technology using graphene won’t well into the 2020’s it is a technology that is a wild care to the long term future of the industry. Is graphite a potential 5Mt amrket, or is it a 20Mt or 30Mt market? Along with increasing adoption rates of electric and hybrid vehicles and the other lage demand drivers, the graphene wild card could combine to create the perfect storm in demand by the end of the decade. While the mining super cycle ends for many metals in the next 10 years, the graphite theme could be one of the few going long and strong..

2708 Postings, 4746 Tage VollzeittraderMoin Leute,
