Der Baltic Dry Index, der als Frühindikator für die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung gilt, deutet aktuell auf eine Verbesserung der wirtschaftlichen Lage hin. Seit dessen Tiefststand von Mitte Juli konnte sich der Index um 43% erholen. Dafür werden von Experten vor allem höhere Eisenerzlieferungen nach China verantwortlich gemacht. Man kann deshalb getrost darauf schließen, dass China im, beziehungsweise ab August höhere Eisenerzimporte verzeichnen wird. Dieser Trend zeigte sich auch schon im Juli, als die chinesischen Eisenerzimporte erstmals seit mehreren Monaten wieder ansteigen konnten.

European duty-paid ferro-molybdenum and ferro-vanadium prices have continued their recent mini-resurgence, as steelmakers return from factory shutdowns ratcheting up demand for material.
Truckloads of duty-paid ferro-molybdenum were reported sold at $41.25/kg - the highest in four months. Duty-paid ferro-molybdenum material reached a 2010 high in March at $43-44/kg, just over half the record peak of $80-82/kg seen in August 2005.
