In five years, Careem has amassed 10 million registered users in 60 cities in 11 countries, likely higher than Uber, which got into the region late. Some 250,000 contractor drivers, called captains, work for Careem, and ride numbers have been growing at a 25% monthly clip for the past two years.

Supported mainly by its financial technology (fintech) ecosystem, Tokyo-based Rakuten Inc aims to gain two billion global members by 2020, according to its managing executive officer president Hiroshi Takasawa (picture).
?At present, we have over 1.1 billion global members with gross merchandise sales surpassing over US$100 billion (RM419 billion) in 2016,? revealed Takasawa at the Rakuten Fintech Conference 2017 in Kuala Lumpur recently.

Audience users of Viber from Russia exceeded 82 million. This is stated in the press release of the company. During the year the number of messenger users increased by 40%.
During the year the number of Russian users of Viber increased by 23.5 million people, or 40,17%. And for the last three months the growth in the number of customers of the company in Russia amounted to 7.9% (plus 6 million users). The possible reasons for such dynamics the company believes the increase in the number of smartphones in the population and active promotion of the messenger.
