Video store chain Blockbuster may be down, but it's not out. On Friday the company is expected to announce a new video streaming service with satellite TV provider Dish Network that could eventually take on Netflix.
Dish, which sent the invitation for the press conference, didn't offer much detail, except to say that it will unveil "the most comprehensive home entertainment package ever." But considering that the 10 a.m. PT press conference in San Francisco is dubbed "A Stream Come True," there's a very good chance the company will introduce a flat-rate streaming service similar to Netflix's service.
Dish bought a big chunk of Netflix's assets earlier this year, and according to Bloomberg, the company plans to use those rights to offer a streaming video service to its existing satellite TV customers. And down the road, the company could offer the streaming service to non-Dish customers as well, Bloomberg reported.
CNET's team in San Francisco will at the event, live-blogging the announcement using the Cover It Live tool. So bookmark this page and come back to us Friday at about 9:30 a.m. PT when our coverage kicks off.
aber man stelle sich vor, dass Apple, die sich laut Gerüchten im TV Sektor positionieren wollen, unsere gute alte Blocki schlucken oder mit denen zusammenarbeiten.
