   JOHANNESBURG, June 18 (Reuters) - Steinhoff International
warned of the lingering damage from a massive
accounting scandal after the South African retail group reported
a 1.2 billion euro ($1.3 billion) annual loss, sending its
volatile shares down 8 percent.
   Steinhoff first flagged holes in its accounts in December
2017 -- the warning shot for an accounting fraud since put at
over $7 billion -- shocking investors that had backed its
transformation from a small South African outfit to discount
furniture retailer straddling four continents.
   While it reduced losses by 70 percent compared to the 4
billion euro figure in 2017, Steinhoff warned that the
reputational damage it had suffered and advisor and professional
fees would weigh on its performance this year.
   These would compound a number of other factors dragging on
net sales, including asset disposals, a weaker global economy
and increased competition, its CEO Louis du Preez said in
message from management in the 328-page 2018 annual report
posted on its website.
   "The company and group continue to work hard to recover from
the consequences of the announcement of 5 December 2017," the
message added.
   Shares in Steinhoff, which owns Mattress Firm in the U.S.,
Fantastic chains in Australia and Conforama in France, fell 8
percent in Johannesburg on Wednesday morning after the news, but
had recovered to 1.42 rand per share by 0920 - a 5.3% decline.
   In Frankfurt, where it has a secondary listing ,
its shares fell more than 10 percent but have since regained
some ground.
   
   DELAYED EARNINGS
   Steinhoff, under new management and working to clean up its
balance sheet after the fraud, blamed one-off expenses including
professional fees of 117 million euros and impairments for its
2018 loss.
   The consequences of the scandal had a "severely negative"
impact on its results, the annual report said.
   The retailer had to repeatedly delay the release of its
results for 2017 and 2018 as it waited for the outcome of an
investigation by auditor PwC into the scandal and for audits
from external auditor Deloitte, which kept missing deadlines due
to the complexity of the fraud.
   PwC's probe found eight people, including former Steinhoff
executives, were involved in a scheme where potential
intercompany transactions worth 6.5 billion euros were
fraudulently recorded as external income to prop up profits and
hide costs in money-losing subsidiaries. [nL8N21258L]
   In the 2018 reporting period, Steinhoff said sales were
affected by asset disposals to shore up liquidity as well as
tough trading conditions, with revenue from continuing
operations up 3% to 12.8 billion euros.
   Asset disposals include a majority stake in a South African
auto dealership unit, Conforama's 17% stake in online fashion
retailer Showroomprive.com, Steinhoff's 13.5% stake in
investment firm PSG Group , a 43% stake in KAP
Industrial  as well as property in Austria.
   Its 2019 half-year results are scheduled for release on July
12. Net finance costs are expected to be higher than in 2018 as
fees related to the probe and restructuring effort inflate
expenses for another year.

... dass Beide (AM und Hai) wieder mal gesperrt sind. Bei AM steht als Grund "Einstellen von Boardmails". Jetzt kann ich mich aber noch sehr gut erinnern, dass er vor wenigen Tagen schon mal aus dem selben Grund eine Sperre bekam, und dies vorher auch schon voraus sagte. Kurze Zeit später, nach der Sperre, meinte er zu irgendeinem User, die Forumsregeln wären ihm "heilig", darum würde er sich strikt daran halten. Nun, offenbar dann wohl doch nicht, sonst hätte er ja wohl kaum durchs Einstellen weiterer BM eine erneute eigene Sperre provoziert 😉  

Die Sperre macht nichts, da Berliner, so mitfühlend wie er ist, nahtlos für @alexis übernimmt. Fast schon herzzerreißend.

P.S. ausdrücklich habe ich nicht über eune etwaige Doppel ID gemutmaßt. Ist mir mitterweile auf völlig egal

seit 6? war alles Schlechte eingepreist. hmmm, wenn ich gut nachdenke, das schon mal mind. 20 Mal??? oder sogar noch öfters.

Ich gehe aber davon aus (NUR MEINE MEINUNG) dass hier noch weitere unerwartete Überraschungen kommen werden, da ich nicht weiß, wie der Konzern mit einem so schlechten operativen Gewinn in der Form überleben kann (wegen Zinsen, Schulden, Veräußerungen... Marktumfeld und und und.)

und dann kommt heute die AktienFlüsterin und schreibt, ich zitiere Sie, (das sollte man sich für später gut merken!!) (es geht um 2019!!!):

"wird es in den Zahlen für die ersten 3 Quartale extrem besser ausschauen"
"Erheblich besser ist in dem Fall wohl leicht untertrieben"

was die schon so alles wissen! Echte Hellseher, ich frage mich nur, warum die in NY nicht Lotto spielen,  wo man wesentlich mehr Geld verdienen könnte, als beim Zocken mit PennyStock Aktien ;-)

Der entscheidende Punkt wird der sein, das aller Einschätzung nach die Sonderabschreibungen durch sind und somit der operative Gewinn dann im Vordergrund rückt.
Was ist besser !?
1,2 MRD Abschreibungen oder evt. 300 Millionen Plus !?
Sollte das eintreffen was ich erwarte, dann bezeichne ich das schon als erheblich besser und wenn es nur 50 Millionen Plus wären, selbst dann ist der Quantensprung geschafft.

Rechne mal aus den 2018 Zahlen alle Sondereffekte und Abschreibungen heraus, dann kommt man auch schon auf ein positives Ergebnis. Klar momentan ohne Zinszahlungen und Rückstellungen und auch noch mit einem riesigen finanziellen Aufwand für die Finanzierungen und Restrukturierungen, aber die sind auch schon bald abgeschlossen und wie Steinhoff so schön sagt, dann kann man sich endlich mit voller Kraft auf das operative Geschäft konzentrieren !
 

Wenn man alles vor und zurück rechnet und das dausende Mal,wird man irgendwann den Überblick verlieren und es passt schon,lach.  

OK! So gesehen bin ich bei dir, aber deine Formulierung finde ich für ein mini-positives Ergebnis zuuuu übertrieben positiv. Das Geld (z.B 50 Mio.) reichen nicht aus! Wenn das so wäre, und nicht wesentlich besser, müsste das Management nach anderen Lösungen suchen. z. B. eine Kapitalmaßnahme (in welcher Form auch immer!), was eine große Verwässerung bedeuten würde. Für die Aktionäre (insb. Altaktionäre ist das nicht schön. Für euch, mit einem EK von 12 bis 13c. ist das OK, ihr würdet dabei wenig verlieren, aber die mit einem EK im Eurobereich, sieht es ganz anders aus.

AF, sonst denke ich auch, dass die Sonderabschreibungen durch sind. Die Experten haben genug Zeit gehabt, alles zu finden, was zum Abschreiben war. Aber auch hier, wäre ich vorsichtig. Das wird uns nur die Zukunft bestätigen können.

Wo ich immer noch skeptisch bin, ist das operative Geschäft. Aber das wissen wir auch bald! SG an euch!  

an deiner Stelle wäre ich etwas vorsichtiger mit Bilanzanalysen.

Sowas sollte man doch lieber Personen vom Fach überlassen.
